Training & Talks on Therapeutic Horticulture
I’m a fully qualified teacher and horticulturist with 18 years’ experience of planning and delivering projects, training sessions, courses, workshops and talks for a range of organisations and groups. I specialise in social, community and therapeutic horticulture and have worked in a range of settings from medium and low security in-patients’ wards to schools, residential settings and community gardens. I work with those with mental health challenges, learning and physical disabilities, learning difficulties, hearing impairments and those who are socially excluded.
I offer bespoke workshops and talks for those who would like to work with plants and gardens to improve others’ wellbeing. These could take place in an enclosed therapeutic garden within a school, hospital ward garden or residential setting. Alternatively you may have a community therapeutic garden or park project that would like to involve a range of different user groups from those living with dementia to young adults with learning differences.
I can focus on developing the practical skills and knowledge needed to develop and run therapeutic garden projects. This includes overall garden evaluation, development and management. I can also support you, your staff and volunteers to create a year-long programme of engaging, meaningful and accessible therapeutic gardening tasks suitable for a range of participants and user groups at your garden site. The training can be delivered face-to-face at your site across the North West of England (or further afield by arrangement). In addition or alternatively, online sessions can be offered via Zoom.
If you would like me to deliver a customised workshop, course or talk for your staff, team or project please contact me to discuss your requirements and how I can support you.
